Topic: Backup name

This topic describes the naming conventions for backups in BackUp Maker.

Input box: Backup name

Give your backup job a unique name. Maximum length is 30 characters. By default, the backup name also serves as the file name for the backup.

Option: Use current date as filename

To allow you to have a chronological view of your backups, you have the option of appending creation date and time to the name. Enable the Use current data as filename checkbox if you wish to do this.

Option: Don't insert backup name

If you do not wish to have the backup name as part of the file name, enable this checkbox. In this case, your file name will consist only of the creation date and time of the backup.

Example: 2005-01-20.zip

Option: Insert backup name before date

If you want to have the backup name to precede the creation date and time, enable the "Insert backup name before date" checkbox.

Example: Backupname 2005-01-20.zip

Option: Insert backup name after date

If you want to have the backup name to be appended to the creation date and time, enable the "Insert backup name after date" checkbox.

Example: 2005-01-20 Backupname.zip

Note: The date is given in the format year/month/day so as to allow a chronological sort order.
